„New Frankfurt Internationals“ is a cooperation between the Frankfurt Kunstverein (FKV), the MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt am Main and the State Academy of Fine Arts Staedelschule Frankfurt am Main. Comprising an exhibition, a performance series and artist interventions in the Rhein-Main edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung, „New Frankfurt Internationals“ honors the immense artistic potential of the region by presenting artists who live and/or studied here and many of whom are now among the „new internationals“ of the global art scene. The project is conceived as a repeating exhibition and a nationally and internationally prominent platform for emerging artists from Frankfurt and surrounding areas.

With the title „Stories and Stages“, the first „New Frankfurt Internationals“ edition focuses on works addressing various techniques and forms of narrative. Many artists use the media of film, photography or sculptures as stages upon which their narratives play out. The works presented at Frankfurter Kunstverein mostly refer to concret stories or events, which are deconstructed by fragmenting or reassembling them. At MMK Zollamt the artists show everydaymaterials or symbols and combine them to suggest potential acts and alternative spaces or timeframes.

In addition to the works on view at the Frankfurter Kunstverein and the MMK Zollamt, the Rhein-Main-Zeitung, the regional edition of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, will serve as a third „venue“. Each week throughout the exhibition, an artist will design one page of this newspaper and respond to the newspaper as a unique form of documentary narrative. Also, the performances and artistic productions taking place in the city center of Frankfurt allow visitors to experience another dimension of narrative.

Exhibition venues: Frankfurter Kunstverein, Steinernes Haus am Römerberg, Markt 44, 60311 Frankfurt am Main; MMK Museum for Modern Art, Domstraße 10, 60311 Frankfurt am Main; Portikus, Alte Brücke 2 Maininsel, 60594 Frankfurt am Main, Städelschule State Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt am Main, Dürerstraße 10, 60596 Frankfurt am Main.
