a) Logging of website access

Every time one of our webpages is accessed, data is recorded temporarily as access data in a log file on the server. The following data is logged:
- IP address/DNS name, data and time,
- page accessed/name of the requested file,
- amount of data transferred,
- type of operating system,
- type of browser,
- confirmation of successful access/file request.

This data is used for statistical analysis only and evaluated in an anonymized form to improve our services, and subsequently deleted. The data is not subject to another use or passed on to third parties except in the cases expressly mentioned here.

2. Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service provided by Google Inc.(1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”).

Google Analytics uses cookies, i.e., small text files stored on your computer to facilitate analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie on your use of this website (including your IP address) will as a rule be transferred to a Google server in the United States and stored there. Google uses this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activities for the website operator and provide other services related to the use of the website and internet use.

On this website, to protect your personal data, the Google Analytics option for IP anonymization is activated. When IP anonymization is activated, your IP address is shortened by Google before transferring it to a server, although this only applies within the European Union Members States or in other States party to the agreement on the European Economic Area. You can prevent cookies being stored on your computer by changing your browser's privacy settings. We would, however, like to point out that if you block website cookies, you may be unable to use all the functionalities on our website. By downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the link below, you can also, if you wish, prevent Google transferring the data generated by the cookie on your use of the website (incl. your IP address) as well as Google processing this data. http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

The use of opt-out cookies prevents your data from being collected during any future visits to this website. To prevent your data being collected by Universal Analytics across a number of devices, you need to activate the opt-out cookies on all those systems. To set the opt-out cookies, click here: Deactivate Google Analytics.

The IP address transmitted to Google Analytics by your browser is not associated with other data held by Google. By using this website, you give your consent to a processing of the data collected on your use of the website by Google in the way described above and for the purposes as stated.

3. Cookies

Our website uses cookies on various pages to improve the appearance of our website and help you navigate the site more easily. These cookies are small text files sent by our server and stored on your PC or end device. They log data on your IP address, browser, operating system and internet connection. This is statistical information which is not linked to any personal data and is not passed on to third parties. We do not use cookies under any circumstances to install malware or spying programmes onto your PC or end device. If you prefer, you can use our website without the cookie function, although in some cases this may limit the website appearance and functions available. To prevent cookies being stored on your end device, you have to make the appropriate changes to your browser settings. You can use your browser’s help function to tell you how to make the requisite changes.

4. Third-party content and services

On the MUSEUMMMK für Moderne Kunst homepage there are links to webpages by other providers, e.g. Google Maps, social networks, and partners. These are monitored for their content prior to setting the links. However, the MUSEUMMMK für Moderne Kunst cannot assume any responsibility for the content of these external websites, as it does not instigate the transmission of information, nor does it select the addressees for the transmitted data, nor does it choose or alter the information transmitted. We expressly point out that as a rule the linked external websites have their own privacy policies, over which the MUSEUMMMK für Moderne Kunst has no influence. For this reason, any responsibility and liability on the part of the MUSEUMMMK für Moderne Kunst for the privacy policies of these websites is fully excluded.

a) Newsletter

On our webpage, you can subscribe to one or more newsletters. The newsletters are distributed through the campaignmonitor.com system run by the US based organisation Campaign Monitor Pty Ltd. To ensure this system conforms with statutory and data protection requirements, it uses a double opt-in process. In this case, after requesting a newsletter subscription, potential subscribers initially receive an email with a link to confirm their wish to receive the newsletter. Only once a subscriber has clicked on the link to confirm their interest is the email address added to the mailing list. The consent to storing your personal data and the use of your email address for newsletter mailings can be revoked by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the footer of each newsletter.

When you subscribe to a newsletter, the particular personal data transmitted to those responsible for processing such information depends on the fields in the form used.

For newsletter registration, we additionally store the IP address given by the internet service provider (ISP) of the computer system used by the potential subscriber at the time of registration, as well as the date and time of such a registration. Since collecting this data is necessary for tracing the (possible) misuse of a person’s email address at a later point in time, it provides legal protection for those responsible for processing the data.

The personal data collected in the course of registering for a newsletter is solely used for the purpose of mailing our newsletters. Moreover, the subscribers to the email may be contacted where this is necessary for operating the newsletter service or for registering for this service as, for instance, might be the case due to changes to the newsletter service or to the technical conditions. We do not transfer to third parties any personal data collected as part of our newsletter service.

In the newsletter (but not in the system emails for subscribing and unsubscribing), we set tracking codes to track email open rates and click-through rates for the links in the newsletter. The information collected is stored as pseudonymized data, i.e., we replace the personally identifiable information (e.g., email address) by an artificial identifier (pseudonym). In this way, we do not store any personal data together with user data relating to, for example, opening the newsletter or accessing links. Moreover, this also ensures that such data cannot be combined at any later date. If as the newsletter recipient you wish to revoke your consent to this pseudonymised data tracking, you can unsubscribe by clicking the link included in the footer of all our newsletters.

5. Social Media

The MUSEUMMMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST has fan pages on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Tripadvisor. The links to these fan pages on our homepage are clearly indicated by the social network’s logos or links. When you follow the link to one of these fan pages, your browser opens a direct connection to their server. Please note that in particular Facebook’s data processing takes place outside the jurisdiction of the European Union. The MUSEUMMMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST has no influence on the scope of the data collected by Facebook, nor on the way in which Facebook processes the data. Even if you are not signed up to Facebook, there is still a chance that Facebook can identify and store your IP address.

6. Contact

We record personal data when you submit this data of your accord, for example, when you contact us by email. The personal data transmitted in this way will of course exclusively be used for the purpose for which you made the data available by contacting us.

This data is expressly provided on a voluntary basis and with your consent. If this data contains details of communication channels (e.g., email address, telephone number), you also consent to us, where appropriate, contacting you via these communication channels in order to answer your enquiry. At present, the Museum der Weltkulturen does not use any encoding technologies. We would therefore like to expressly point out that our data transmission via the internet is not encrypted, i.e., not secured, and hence the transmitted data may be accessed by unauthorised persons or tampered with during the process of transmission. Naturally, you may revoke your consent to the storage of this data at any time with future effect.

7. Right to information and revocation

On request, we will be glad to provide you free of charge with information on your personal data that we have stored, your personal details, origin, the recipient and purpose of our data collection and processing. In addition, you have the right to have deleted, or to limit the use of, personal data of yours which we have collected, or to revoke your consent to our processing such data. Without having to state any reasons for your decision, you may also revoke your consent to our processing your personal data at any time with future effect.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

The MUSEUMMMK FÜR MODERNE KUNST reserves the right to change its privacy policy to reflect technical developments and changes in statutory conditions. The current status of this Privacy Policy is noted at the end of this page.
